Major brands now realize that consumers want natural sunscreen. Without even changing the formulas, many are adding a “natural” labeling when it’s not. There are so many words that we are told to look for when shopping for our makeup, skincare and sunscreen: natural, organic, chemical-free, cruelty-free, and eco-friendly. However, these call-outs are not strictly regulated, which means they are not 100% natural. We must know how to read a label to fully protect our delicate skin.

People of all colors, including those with brown and black skin, get skin cancer. While there are not enough studies to know the true statistical incidence due to underreporting, we are 100% certain that melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers are increasing in darker skin populations. Unfortunately, there is no indication this trend will stop. The reality is, nonmelanoma skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma, affects more than 3 million Americans a year.
