Sun50 - Sun Protection Apparel Brand Launch

Sun50 - Sun Protection Apparel Brand Launch - Sun50

The winter travel season kicked off in full swing with the official launch of the Sun50 brand in Minneapolis. Held at CōV in Edina, close to 200 family and friends were welcomed into a coastal atmosphere, painting the perfect backdrop for the California made and inspired Sun50 collections. Minneapolis-based, David Gerald Sutton, led off the festivities with his “one-man orchestra,” while partygoers enjoyed signature cocktails and hors d'oeuvres.

Vibrant models engaged the crowd wearing signature Sun50 pieces, speaking to the comfort and performance of the eco-friendly fabrics, and bringing life to the versatility and diversity of the brand. Designed to protect skin from UV sun exposure, the collection debut elicited accolades about how easily the Sun ScarvesBeach Wrap and Zip Cover-Up Dress “transition to a nighttime party setting”. Allowing for minimalist packing, as styles provide fashionable UPF 50+ sun protection, it was exciting to hear peoples’ enthusiasm over the travel friendly opportunities.

A notable mention, one directly responsible for pre-party crashers was the breathtaking Sambatra Tote Bag. Using fashion as an agent for social change, each tote is handwoven in Madagascar, where female artisans are empowered to take control of their future with fair trade opportunities. This exquisite and one-of-a-kind bag managed to steal the show, as many of these limited-run gems left the party with those who were lucky to score one, including the party crashers.

Just before dessert was passed, the Sun50 team was introduced to an enthusiastic round of applause. Recognizing each team member for their incredible contributions, Christie Covarrubias, Sun50 CEO, thanked everyone for coming to celebrate the brand launch with her and her team. Sharing her reason for founding the company with her husband and co-founder, while emphasizing the need to elevate skin cancer awareness and prevention to save lives, Christie reminded everyone about the importance of sun safety, annual skin checks, and living life to the fullest!

As the party came to an end, a commemorative birchwood Luggage tag was gifted to everyone as they left, to celebrate the occasion. Carved into this beautiful bag tag with the Sun50 logo were the words that summed it all up, “Don’t Forget Me”. It’s safe say this will not be the case.
